Hi, my name is Robin. I already loved Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl. They do cool things all of the time, but thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis. This made me cry. In Minneapolis last week, Dave wanted to give a young fan a comfortable place to sit.
The singer/guitarist restored our faith in humanity once again on Thursday night (October 18), when he invited a blind kid named Owen and his dad to sit on the side of the stage during a Foo Fighters' concert in St. Paul, Minnesota. As if that wasn't cool enough, he walked over to his young fan in the middle of "La Dee Da" and let him touch and strum his guitar.
Pretty cool, right? But the story of Owen gives us a little more insight of things and makes this all even sweeter.
When the story was first reported, Owen was being described as "exhausted," but after careful research Consequence of Sound discovered he was blind. His mother left a thoughtful comment to the outlet on Facebook:
"Thank you for sharing this. I am Owen’s mom," Stacy Anderson wrote. "Owen is in fact blind, he also has Autism, Crohn’s Disease and developmental disabilities. Owen loves concerts so much. He was definitely not tired, he likes to be held up front at most shows and we take turns holdiyhim up so he can dance. Dave Grohl and all of the crew were incredibly kind to our family."
So, the parents are also incredibly cool! Check out Dave strumming with Owen at 3:10 in the video below:
