This was such a special Cal Jam (ok, I've only been to one other show). Two of my favorite bands were on the same bill: Foo Fighters AND Garbage. Of course, we are all going to have to talk about this, though: Frickin' NIRVANA reunion. They brought on John from the band Deer Tick (who were great on one of the side stages) and the legendary Joan Jett on vocals.
This was so special. So so so so so special. Like...it's easy to forget whatever made you mad earlier when you get to see this. Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, Pat Smear...there with some friends. Good lord, THIS is the closest we'll ever get to a Nirvana reunion:
Shut up, I teared up a little. It was amazing.
Of course, I also got excited over seeing Garbage. A really cool thing happened during 'Only Happy When it Rains.' Uh, it started to sprinkle. I'll take it!
And, I mean. I guess Foo Fighters were there too. *cough*
Also, side stories: I saw T-1000 standing around in flannel. I saw Garbage get turned away from security because they didn't have wrist bands. I got to hang out in Rami's (keyboardist for Foos) area. My boyfriend said hi to Josh Homme. I exploded at some point.
I am stupidly lucky and thankful and understand how very very fortunate I am to be able to experience this. Onward to the next one! <3
