That Failed Grohl/Bowie Collaboration Will Be Released

While I KNEW that Dave Grohl and David Bowie had tried working together before, even my dumb ass had forgotten that something almost happened and never got the release it needed. Over the weekend, a friend casually brought up an article about it and I froze mid-sentence (probably talking about pizza or something) realizing that my Google News Alerts about Foo Fighters aren't working right. ANYWAY, I don't have to go into detail at this point to explain how much I love Dave and Dave...I love them. You know this. So, via, which is also via GQ:

A mystery band will be recording it

Dave Grohl‘s failed collaboration with David Bowie will be released soon.

The Foo Fighters frontman hoped to record the song with Bowie before his death but Bowie turned down the opportunity.

Now a mystery band has taken up the track and the song is set to be released. Speaking to GQ, Grohl said: “I actually gave it to someone recently. I tried for years, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. We tried it, kind of worked on it, then I actually contacted Bowie about doing it together for this movie soundtrack, that didn’t work out. He didn’t like the movie, it wasn’t me, it was the movie (laughs). Then I started working on it again, and I then gave it to another band, who hasn’t used it yet.”

When asked about which band will be releasing the track, Grohl said that he didn’t want to “spoil the surprise.”

Hmmmmm, could it be...SATAN?! No, wait-that reference may be too old. Foo Fighters? Just sayin', it would be cool to see that at Cal Jam.

Meanwhile, if you've never seen Dave Grohl and Pat Smear from Foo Fighters visit some cool David Bowie sites around L.A. (plus a special appearance from a legendary radio DJ!)!
