Meal Service Is Continuing At Area Schools

Schools across the county are officially closed, but many are still offering meals to students. For more information, please contact the district / charter school directly.

Bakersfield City School District schools

Providing free breakfast and lunch to all children ages 2 to 18. Kids will be able to take a sack lunch and breakfast home between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday at a majority of their locations. Call your school for details.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County

Offering meals to all children who are 18 years of age and younger. The meals will be “to-go” for non-club members.

Delano Union School District

Providing free breakfast and lunch “grab and go” meals for all students from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.LOCATIONS:Almond Tree Middle School, Cecil Avenue Middle School, La Vina Middle School, Nueva Vista Middle School, Pioneer School

Kern High School District schools

Providing free breakfast and lunch to all children ages 2 to 18. All schools operated by KHSD will serve “grab and go” meals between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Kernville Union School District

Drive-thru Grab N’ Go Meals are available during COVID-19 school closures for children 18 and under. Monday through Friday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Wallace Elementary School, Wallace Middle School, and Kernville Elementary School.

League of Dreams/Brooklyn’s BBQ

Delivering family pack meals to families of disabled children who are not going out or the elderly in self-isolation.

McFarland Unified School District

Providing free lunch meal for the day and a breakfast meal to eat the following morning for all children ages 2 to 18. Meals will be distributed between 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Children must be present to receive the meals.

Panama-Buena Visa Union School District

Providing free “grab and go” meals Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

LOCATIONS: Berkshire Elementary, Castle Elementary, Miller Elementary, Sandrini Elementary, Seiber Elementary, Stine Elementary, Stonecreek Jr. High, Tevis Jr. High, Warren Jr. High, Whitley Elementary

Taft City School District

Providing free breakfast and lunch to children 18 years and under at all school sites. Families can drive up or walk up to receive meals from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Tehachapi Unified School District

Providing free lunch meal for the day and a breakfast meal to eat the following morning for all children 18 years and under at three locations Monday through Friday. Bagged meals will be offered through a drive-thru and walk-up distribution.

LOCATIONS: Jacobsen Middle School(11 a.m. to 12 p.m.),Tompkins Elementary School(11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.),Golden Hills Elementary(11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.)

Wasco Union High School / Wasco Independence High School

Providing free breakfast/lunch combination meal to all children ages 2 to 18. There will be a “walk-up” or “drive-up” location available between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Wasco High School cafeteria and Independence High School. Meals will also be available in Lost Hills at their school sites and the Wonderful Community Park. Children must be present to receive the meals.

Wasco Union Elementary School District (Palm Avenue Middle School)

Providing free breakfast and lunch to all children 18 years and under. Bagged meals will be offered as a “grab and go” service between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There will be a drive thru service available to pick up meals. Children must be present to receive the meals.
